Mel's Burger Joint

"Not A Fast Food Establishment"

Mel and Don recently retired from the 8-5 rat race, and moved to Copperas Cove, TX, to be near their daughter and grandson.   They needed to have something to do, other than drive their daughter crazy, so decided to open a Burger Joint.  They were looking for something like Ty's Diner, in Wichita, KS.  It is a friendly place, that serves great burgers and fries.  Hence, Mel's Burger Joint was born in Copperas Cove.

The first priority was to provide good food, and service, with a friendly smile.  To get the food part, Mel, Don and daughter Leslie ate hamburgers for months.  The trio finally settled on a special beef, with a 81/19 blend.

The pickles went through a similar process, with the tasters eating every type of pickle they could buy.  They finally settled on two brands that met the taste test.  A kosher filet was finally selected.

French fries are fresh cut 12 ounce Idaho Russet #1 potatoes.  The crew shows up early every morning to wash, scrub, and cut the fries for that days business.  A full order of fries, is enough for two adults to share!  They are deep fried in 100% canola oil.

Mel's has recently added something new to their menu.  Texas' own Blue Bell ice cream.  They make old fashion shakes and malts.  What could be better then a big juicy burger, fries and a shake?!

As for the friendly part, stop in and say "howdy," you won't be disappointed!!
